Adolescent treatment
Adolescence is the optimal time to receive orthodontic treatment.
We encourage all teenagers to see our orthodontic team. This can be the best time to go through orthodontic treatment as all of the adult teeth have erupted and at the same time facial growth is still occurring.
As the dental structure is not yet fixed the teeth are still malleable. Often this stage is when orthodontic treatment can be most simple, comfortable and non-invasive.
At Designer Orthodontics, we tailor our orthodontic treatment specifically to the needs of each of our patients.
If a patient has undertaken early intervention treatment that has been properly maintained, now is the time to detail the bite and finish individual tooth alignment. This time, orthodontic treatment may only last 12-18 months. Patients who have not undergone early orthopaedic work may require a longer, more in-depth treatment plan to achieve beautifully straight teeth.
Teenagers make up the largest group to wear braces but despite this fact some teens feel uncomfortable getting them. We understand that this time can be a difficult time even without orthodontic treatment. This is why we will discuss treatment options in detail so they become part of the process and feel better about receiving orthodontics.
Orthodontic options
We endeavour to provide our teenage patients with options to ensure they can choose a treatment which can straighten their smile discreetly and effectively, as well as making them feel comfortable.
- Braces – Metal braces are made of stainless steel and remain the most commonly used appliance today.
- Clear Braces – Recent demands for less noticeable braces led to the development of transparent options.
- Invisalign Teen – Invisalign Teen uses thin plastic trays to align the teeth.
During you initial consultation, we can talk you through the options available and discuss which treatment is best suited to your concerns, lifestyle and budget.
